So I have been reading a lot about AI and exploring different tools.
I also ended up helping The AI Studio team with some pieces about the generative AI tools I have used.
Seeing so many tools solving problems that took us hours in seconds is astounding. It’s brilliant!!! However, AI will never be able to solve ALL our problems.
Ai can’t solve the problems that need to be solved by us.
There’s No Tool That Can Solve Your Life Problems
Life Isn’t Linear
Tools are for generic and repeated tasks.
They are not straightforward tasks that can be solved with the same line of code. Your mental health can be fixed by using a tool. You may feel instantly better for a while but that instant gratitude isn't going to last for long.
They have been made after witnessing the same process a million times. It’s more of a template.
Your mental health can be fixed by using a tool.
But our personal problems are personal for a reason. This is the very reason I stopped consuming content when I learned it was meant for millions of others who were not dealing with what I was dealing with.
It felt like a sea of generic self-help advice that didn’t resonate with my specific circumstances.
They arrive differently for different people; it’s hard to put them in a box.
Having said that, reading books and learning from the life of others can help us navigate some of the challenges of life but the real ones will require looking within.
Why do you feel the way you do
Why is your marriage not working
What do you want to do with your life
Why do you get anxious every time you hang with that person
No tool can help you find these.
It becomes even more difficult to find these now when we have thousands of distractions around us.
Tools Can Only Guide Us
I spent 2 years designing a journaling app to understand myself. I had the blueprint in hand but it wasn’t enough.
I still needed to do my part of the work. They’ll show a way but they aren't a magic pill that will recuse you from the demons of your mind.
Life is a complex tapestry of experiences, and our problems are often intertwined with multiple facets of our being. While tools can offer valuable insights and strategies, they are inherently limited in their ability to address the intricacies of our existence.
With or without the tool, you’ll have to take control and get yourself out of such a situation because the cavalry is not coming to save you.
It can be done by initiating difficult conversations with yourself or your spouse, sitting quietly and self-talking, or seeking the help of a human expert.
It is through active participation, rather than reliance on external tools, that we can navigate the challenges of life and uncover our own unique paths to fulfillment and contentment.
“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. we ourselves must walk the path.” — Buddha
There is no tool that can solve all our life problems. Embracing the complexity of life and taking ownership of our growth is the only way out.
“The only way out is through.”
Friedrich Nietzsche’s above quote implies that facing and confronting our challenges head-on is the most effective path toward resolution.
Avoiding or sidestepping our problems only prolongs the difficulties we face. When we look for an app, our focus moves from the issue to the pseudo-solution that’s presented by big corporations.
By acknowledging and working through our obstacles, we can find genuine solutions and personal growth. It encourages us to embrace the discomfort and confront the issue directly, rather than seeking temporary escapes or evasions.
Humans fail to understand each other, and believing AI to understand you and solve your problems is ludicrous.
They can definitely help you with business support but life support?
I highly doubt it.
What about you?
Last Week’s Finds
It is easier to start something than to finish it. Realised it when I resumed this newsletter and thought about other side projects that I couldn’t finish. This was the reason my new resolution has been to stay focused.
Johnny Harris, an independent journalist, makes videos on geopolitics and conspiracy theories which I find better than Netflix documentaries. Recently watched his video on milk which blew my mind 🤯
As I am consuming less content these days, I have fewer things to share in this section. However, it presents another opportunity to share personal observations and experiments. Hopefully, that will happen soon.
Lastly, thank you to everyone who reached out after reading last week's newsletter. It truly made a difference, and I sincerely appreciate your presence. :)
Until next week
